Rural Process

UnJAM 2035 was adopted by the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in May 2009. However with the MPO representing a small portion of the Planning District, focus is now being shifted to include all areas of our region.

The UnJAM 2035 Rural Addition provides a closer look at the transportation needs and opportunities of the rural areas of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District. This is defined as the entirety of Greene, Louisa, Fluvanna, and Nelson counties, and sections of Albemarle County not part of the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). If this includes you, we need your help in identifying and evaluating all facets of your transportation system.

We are seeking endorsements of the plan from each of the governing bodies in the planning district by December of 2009. The public participation process begins right now if you’d like to submit a comment online.

Otherwise we’ll be out to hear from you at any of these events:

  1. Greene County Fair – Aug. 12th through 16th, 2009
  2. Albemarle County Fair – July 28th through Aug. 2nd, 2009
  3. Nelson County Health Fair – July 9th, 2009
  4. Louisa Air Show – Sept. 5th, 2009
  5. Fluvanna County Old Farm Day – Oct. 3rd, 2009
See our events calendar for more opportunities to participate

Are there any intersections or roads you feel are particularly dangerous?

Do you have any ideas for ways to make public transportation work in your community?

How’s your commute? Is there a way to make it easier for you?

Maybe everything is just right the way it is, and you’d like it to stay that way. Please let us know!
